Mission Statement:
From Awareness to Action seeks, as its mission, to contribute to the goal of reducing death and disability caused by complications from high blood pressure.

Objective:
To unite government agencies, professional associations, and patient advocacy organizations to develop and implement high-profile intervention programs to increase the rate of public awareness, control, and treatment of hypertension.

From Awareness to Action
will:

  • Help patients to become their own advocates for blood pressure control by providing education and tools to help patients know and understand their blood pressure numbers.
  • Encourage providers to treat high blood pressure with a sense of urgency and reach established Sixth Report of the JNC systolic and diastolic blood pressure goals of less than 140/90 mmHg, and less than 130/85 mmHg in those at highest risk, especially patients with significant kidney disease or diabetes.
  • Increase awareness of the importance of systolic blood pressure and the associated risk increase.
